One Night Only

In 1997, the Bee Gees performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for what was conceived as their final live performance. This concert, captured on the album and DVD/Blu-ray *One Night Only*, is a retrospective of decades of their music, spanning from the 60s to the 90s. The sound that defines this moment is a mix of pop, disco, and soft rock, with the energy of a band that, despite the circumstances, delivered a complete show. The recording took place on November 14, 1997, and the official album release occurred in 1998, with a total duration of 78 minutes.

About the album

One Night Only, according to DoReSol

The album features very special moments, such as a tribute to their deceased brother, Andy Gibb, with the song "(Our Love) Don’t Throw It All Away", where images of Andy himself singing are interspersed. Additionally, Céline Dion joins the band on "Immortality", and the recorded voices of Frankie Valli are heard on "Grease", taken from the original recording. The CD edition of the album had to omit some songs, but the complete concert version can be found on the DVD. In 1999, a reissue included an additional CD with the missing tracks. A curious detail is that, at the end of "How Deep Is Your Love", Barry's daughter, Alexandra, comes on stage to present roses, but the music of "Stayin' Alive" interrupts the moment.

Originally, the title *One Night Only* reflected the idea that this would be the band's last concert, due to Barry Gibb's arthritis. However, the tour was extended with performances every two weeks to allow him to recover. The concert material was re-released in SD Blu-ray format in 2013, offering an improvement in audio quality compared to the DVD, although the visual enhancement was more subtle. The album and DVD cover recreates the band's iconic pose from the movie *Saturday Night Fever*.
