Nós vamos invadir sua praia

When you dive into Nós vamos invadir sua praia, you encounter the starting point of Ultraje a Rigor, released in 1985. This album marked a before and after, achieving platinum status in Brazil and presenting a sound that resonated strongly. What's interesting is that it was the only work with guitarist Carlo "Carlinhos" Bartolini, who later went his own way. The title, according to producer Pena Schmidt, was a kind of nod or challenge from São Paulo bands to those from Rio de Janeiro, reflecting the arrival of a new wave of São Paulo musicians gaining ground in the 80s rock scene. But beyond that rivalry, the lyrics of the main song capture a very typical custom of the time: weekend getaways for São Paulo residents to Santos.

About the album

Nós vamos invadir sua praia, according to DoReSol

Within this album, there are tracks that stand out and invite you to play them. You'll hear Eu Me Amo and Rebelde Sem Causa, which had already appeared on a previous single. You'll also find re-recorded versions of Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar, which were part of their first EP. The song Marylou features a special guest appearance by Herbert Vianna, from Paralamas do Sucesso, on guitar. And the one that gives the album its name, Nós vamos invadir sua praia, had a music video that aired on the program Fantástico, and featured the collaboration of several artists such as Selvagem Big Abreu, Lobão, Leo Jaime, and Ritchie. In fact, nine of the eleven songs on the album became radio hits.

This work had several lives. It was remastered and re-released on CD in 1990 and again in 2001, adding as bonus tracks the original versions of Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar recorded in 1983, as well as Hino dos Cafajestes and Marylou (versão carnaval). The 2001 edition also included Ricota, a composition by Edgard Scandurra that was recorded in 1983. In 2008, Revista MTV considered it the "best national rock album," and in 2010, Polysom reissued it on 180-gram vinyl. Revista Rolling Stone Brasil, for its part, ranked it 27th on its list of the 100 best albums in Brazilian music.
