Mim quer tocar

The story behind

Ultraje a Rigor released Mim Quer Tocar in 1985, within their first album Nós vamos invadir sua praia. The song was released together with Inútil as a single, and was recorded in the Nas Nuvens studio. The title of the album was explained by the producer Pena Schmidt as a provocation towards the bands from São Paulo, which were gaining ground in Rio de Janeiro, a key place of Brazilian rock in the eighties. The lyrics of Mim Quer Tocar focus on the frustration of a musician who cannot play the song he wants. The song lasts three minutes and a half, and has more than twenty thousand listeners on Last.fm.
