Mim quer tocar

Ultraje a Rigor recorded their first album at the Nas Nuvens studio in Rio de Janeiro, but the title of the album Nós Vamos Invadir Sua Praia was no coincidence. The phrase, which in Portuguese sounds like a provocation, originated from a conversation between producer Pena Schmidt and the band: they wanted to stake their claim against the carioca groups dominating Brazilian rock in the 80s. However, the lyrics of Mim Quer Tocar — the track that opens the album — do not speak of rivalries, but of something simpler and universal: the desire to connect with the audience through music. The chorus, with its mix of urgency and tenderness, became an instant bridge between the band and those who listened to them.
