Zoraide

The story behind

Ultraje a Rigor recorded Zoraide in 1985, within their first album, Nós vamos invadir sua praia. The song was released on a single together with Inútil and Mim quer tocar, which had quite a lot of success. The title of the album was explained by the producer Pena Schmidt, as a provocation towards the bands from São Paulo, which were gaining ground in Rio de Janeiro, a traditional place for Brazilian rock. The lyrics of Zoraide focus on a love and desire story, with a voice that moves between desire and desperation. The song lasts 3 minutes and 28 seconds, and today it still has quite a following on Last.fm, with over 100 thousand plays.
