The story behind
Nós vamos invadir sua praia, according to DoReSol
The song Nós Vamos Invadir Sua Praia sounds like a battle cry with electric guitar. It's not just a catchy tune: the opening riff, which seems like a call to arms, repeats with energy that doesn't wane even in the calmer verses. The lyrics, meanwhile, play with the irony of invading something that already belongs to everyone, as if 1980s Brazilian rock had decided to storm the carioca scene from São Paulo. The contrast between the aggressiveness of the sound and the mischief of the words gives it a unique character: it doesn't sound like a protest, but rather a playful challenge. They recorded it at the Nas Nuvens studio in Rio de Janeiro in 1985, just as the band had already lit the fuse with their early singles like Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar.
Producer Pena Schmidt titled it as a direct provocation to southern bands, who viewed these Paulistas with suspicion—ironically, they ended up dominating national rock. The album not only earned them their first platinum record but also became a symbol: proof that Brazilian rock could be both irreverent and commercial at the same time. The guitar work of Carlo "Carlinhos" Bartolini—who only played on this album—added that metallic sparkle that makes the track stand out even among the classics of the era.
