Rebelde sem causa

The story behind

Ultraje a Rigor recorded Rebelde Sem Causa in 1985, as part of their first album, Nós vamos invadir sua praia. The song was released on the single together with Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar, and became one of the most recognized songs by the band. The lyrics talk about a young man who doesn't fit the norms, who feels lonely and dissatisfied with the world. The song was recorded in the Nas Nuvens studio, a place that also hosted other artists of the time. The album title was a provocation between bands from São Paulo and groups from Rio de Janeiro, because a generation of paulistas was gaining space in the musical scene of the state of Rio. The song is still played today for its direct message and its powerful rhythm.
