The story behind

Ultraje a Rigor recorded Eu Me Amo in 1985, as part of their first album, Nós Vamos Invadir Sua Praia. The song was released together with Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar in the first singles. The band recorded the album in the Nas Nuvens studio, with producer Pena Schmidt. The album's title was a provocation towards the bands from São Paulo, which were gaining ground in Rio de Janeiro, a key place of Brazilian rock in the eighties. The lyrics of Eu Me Amo clearly describe a situation of rebellion and hopelessness, without directly mentioning the band's context.
