Inútil

The story behind

Ultraje a Rigor recorded Inútil in 1985, as part of their first album, Nós vamos invadir sua praia. The song was released on a single together with Mim Quer Tocar and Eu Me Amo/Rebelde Sem Causa, which helped give it visibility. The album title was a provocation, according to producer Pena Schmidt, referring to the arrival of musicians from São Paulo to the success in Rio de Janeiro, a key place of Brazilian rock in the 80s. The lyrics of Inútil reflect that tension, with a direct rhythm and a guitar that never stops moving. The song lasts 3 minutes and 36 seconds, and it still remains a reference in the band's repertoire.
