Invisible

Invisible was formed in 1973, when Luis Alberto Spinetta already had experience and wanted to try something new. He joined with Héctor "Pomo" Lorenzo on drums and Carlos Alberto "Machi" Rufino on bass and vocals. The three had already played together before, in different projects, but now they wanted to do something different. It was a trio, but soon Tomas Gubitsch joined on guitar, and it became a quartet.

The idea was that no one would stand out too much. Each song was for everyone, and there were no personal notes or individual interviews. Everything was collective. But over time, Spinetta's influence started affecting that dynamic. Although the base was solid, the sound became more personal, more his own.

More about Invisible

Biography

The sound of Invisible didn't use much distortion, something that set them apart from bands like Pappo's Blues or The Who. Spinetta wanted something cleaner, more lyrical, but with a lot of energy. The base of Pomo and Machi was powerful, and that was noticeable in every song.

They rehearsed in a fifth and debuted at the Teatro Astral in November 1973. They did well, so much so that they continued playing there. They did a summer tour and returned to the same place in March. At the beginning of the following year, they released a single called Estado de coma, with songs like "Elementales leches" and Estado de coma.

"Elementales leches" was a strong song, which ended up being banned during the dictatorship. The censors associated it with sexual content, although in reality it was a social critique. It was one of the most important songs of Spinetta, and also one of the most censored.
