The story behind

Ruido de magia, according to DoReSol

Ruido de magia begins with a sharp drum hit and a guitar that sounds as if it's floating above the rest. It's not a track that progresses in a straight line: it has a dreamlike quality, as if each instrument breathes at its own pace without ever losing connection. The bass of Machi Rufino weaves lines that intertwine with the voice of Luis Alberto Spinetta, while the drums of Pomo Lorenzo mark a rhythm that seems to move in circles. It's one of those songs that, once they get in, they don't let go.

Recorded in 1976, Ruido de magia is the fifth track on El jardín de los presentes, the last studio album Invisible released as a quartet. The album came out when the band had already spent years exploring sounds that blended rock, jazz, and even touches of classical music, but here the result is more ethereal than ever. Spinetta and Tomás Gubitsch built the foundations in the studio with borrowed equipment, and although they weren't aiming for commercial success, the track ended up standing out for its unique atmosphere. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it among the 100 best in Argentine rock, but what's most surprising is how it manages to sound both intimate and expansive at the same time, as if each note were about to dissolve into the air.
