Pra Contrariar

When Só Pra Contrariar released their self-titled album in 1994, they had already created some of their best-known compositions in a single night, such as "Que Se Chama Amor" and "A Barata," which would later be part of their first album in 1993. This group, originally from Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, was formed in 1989 and was inspired by the name of a song by Fundo de Quintal. Over time, SPC refined its style, focusing on romantic interpretations and caring for its image, something that resonated greatly in the pagode scene.

About the album

Só Pra Contrariar, according to DoReSol

The album Só Pra Contrariar, released in 1997, became a milestone, reaching the impressive figure of over 3 million copies sold, positioning it as the fourth most successful album in the history of Brazilian music. Although the group already had a career, this work consolidated its popularity. After Alexandre Pires left in 2002 to pursue his solo career, Fernando Pires took over the vocals and led the band until 2013, the year Alexandre Pires returned for a celebration tour for the group's 25th anniversary. Throughout their career, Só Pra Contrariar has released 14 CDs and 3 DVDs, with an estimated sales ranging between 10 and 20 million records.

This 1994 album, with its 14 tracks, includes pieces like Meu Jeito de Ser and Você Vai Voltar pra Mim, which are part of a repertoire that explored romanticism and the rhythm of pagode. The group's lineup at the time included Alexandre Pires, his brother Fernando Pires, Luis Vital, Serginho, Hamilton, Luis Fernando, Alexandre Popó, Rogério, and Juliano Pires.
