Luz

When Djavan was preparing to release his fifth studio work, Luz, in August 1982, the musical landscape was already opening unexpected doors for him. The idea was to target a different audience, and for that, Djavan traveled to the United States, invited by CBS Records, the company we know today as Sony Music. It was there that he met producer Ronnie Foster and the legendary Stevie Wonder. The collaboration with Wonder materialized in the song Samurai, recorded in Los Angeles. Although the album did not have the expected impact in the US market, it did resonate strongly in his home country; by the end of 1984, it had already sold half a million copies in Brazil.
