The story behind
The song *Capim* has a duration of 4 minutes and 16 seconds. Its original title, which translates to "Grass" or "Pasture," invites us to think about simplicity and connection with nature, elements that are often intertwined in Brazilian music. Producer Ronnie Foster was in charge of recording this piece, contributing his vision to the sound that Djavan was seeking.
In 1982, Djavan traveled to the United States, invited by the record label CBS Records. There, he had the opportunity to collaborate with the renowned musician Stevie Wonder, who participated in the recording of the song *Samurai* for the album *Luz*. Although the album did not have a major commercial impact in the United States, in his native country, Brazil, it reached 500,000 copies sold by the end of 1984. Djavan, born in Maceió, Alagoas, is known for fusing traditional South American rhythms with African influences, creating a unique style that he has explored since his beginnings, when he formed the group Luz, Som, Dimensão, performing songs by The Beatles.
