The story behind
Nobreza, according to DoReSol
The song Nobreza, which is part of the album Luz, was recorded in Los Angeles in 1982. At that time, Djavan was invited to the United States by CBS Records to work on an album intended for the American audience. There he met producer Ronnie Foster and musician Stevie Wonder. From that collaboration came Stevie Wonder's participation in the song Samurai, although on Nobreza the production was handled by Ronnie Foster. While the album Luz did not have a major commercial impact in the United States, it did reach 500,000 copies sold in Brazil by the autumn of 1984.
Djavan, originally from Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil, is known for fusing traditional South American rhythms with influences from African music. His early musical career included forming the group Luz, Som, Dimensão, where they performed covers of The Beatles. In 1973, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, beginning to perform in nightclubs. After participating in festivals, he gained recognition and released his first album in 1976, which included the hit Flor de lis. Subsequently, his works continued to explore his diverse influences, including African music, with songs like Açaí, Samurai, and Sina. The duration of Nobreza is 2:27.
