The story behind

The song *Sina*, born from the pen of Djavan, immerses us in a universe of everyday love through a language rich in metaphors. The composer weaves his lyrics with terms that evoke light, nature, pleasure, or even moments of celebration like *reveillon*. Words like "gift", "to lapidate", or "dream" intertwine to build a complex vision of existence and affections. At the heart of the piece, we find the idea of "sina", which unfolds with images like "moonlight, star of the sea" and "the sun and the gift", suggesting a destiny that can be shaped. A fascinating peculiarity is the invention of the verb "caetanear", a direct nod to maestro Caetano Veloso, inviting us to think about musical creation in his style. Curiously, when Caetano Veloso recorded the song on his own album, *Cores, Nomes*, he inverted the homage, creating the verb "djavanear".

This piece, included in Djavan's fifth studio album, titled *Luz* and released in 1982, became the biggest hit of that work. In fact, its popularity extended over the years, reaching eighth place among the most listened-to songs in 1986. The trajectory of *Sina* demonstrates its enduring appeal, being a recurring theme in compilations and live albums, such as in *Djavan Ao Vivo* from 1999. A version with an electronic touch, produced by Liminha, appeared on the album *Na Pista, etc.* in 2005, and was selected to play in the soap opera *Belíssima* as the theme for the character Giovana. Subsequently, this danceable reinterpretation became part of the collection *Perfil - Djavan* in 2006. The album *Luz*, of which *Sina* is a part, was produced in part by Ronnie Foster and featured arrangements by Djavan himself.
