The story behind

The song *Banho de rio* immerses us in a sound that fuses the musical roots of South America with the vibrations of Africa, a distinctive mark of Djavan. The track, with a duration of 4:35, is from the album *Luz*, released in 1982. It was around that time that Djavan traveled to the United States, invited by CBS Records, with the idea of creating an album intended for the American audience. There, he had the opportunity to work with producer Ronnie Foster and to cross paths with Stevie Wonder, who even participated in the recording of another track from the same album, *Samurai*. Although the album did not have a massive sales impact in the U.S., it did resonate strongly in his homeland, Brazil, where by the fall of 1984, it had already sold 500,000 copies.Djavan's journey to this point is interesting. Born in Maceió, in the state of Alagoas, Brazil, in 1949, he began his musical career by forming a group called Luz, Som, Dimensão, where they performed covers of The Beatles. In 1973, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, starting to perform in nightclubs. After participating in various festivals, his music began to gain recognition, leading him to record his first album in 1976, which included the hit *Flor de lis*. His subsequent works continued to explore this rich blend of influences, incorporating African music and giving rise to other well-known tracks such as *Açaí*, *Samurai*, and *Sina*.
