Corazones

Los Prisioneros released Corazones in May 1990. It was the first album they recorded entirely outside of Chile, in Los Angeles studios. It was produced by Gustavo Santaolalla, an Argentine musician who had already worked with other artists. The band went to the United States with their manager, Carlos Fonseca, because the others had problems with visas.

About the album

Corazones, according to DoReSol

The sound of the album changed a lot. Before, Los Prisioneros played political rock with guitar. Now they got into synthesizers, dance rhythms and more electronic things. It was an important turn, and it was noticeable in the songs. Some are more intimate, others have a disco touch, but all have that energy that defines them.

During the recordings, there was tension. The guitarist, Claudio Narea, left because there were musical differences and also personal problems. Jorge González, the main composer, took more control. That marked the direction of the album. The music ended up being more polished, but without losing its essence. The result was an album that sold a lot in Chile and that still remains important.
