The story behind

Alejandro Sanz wrote "Amiga mía" in 1997, as part of the album Más. It was released as the fourth single from the album, and was recorded in studios in Italy and Spain. The song is a rock ballad that speaks about an unrequited love. Sanz was inspired by a close friend, Irene Chamorro, who was in love with another musician. In the lyrics, he sings about a woman who lives only for another, but the one who loves her does not see her as he does. The music has a flamenco guitar riff and percussive rhythms. The video shows Sanz singing at the top of a building, while the woman he loves leaves with her boyfriend. The song was recognized in awards and had good reception on music charts.
