Amiga mía

In Corazones, the fourth studio album by Los Prisioneros, we find "Amiga mía," a piece that moves away from the more combative sound of their previous works to explore more intimate and electronic territory. The song, which lasts just over four minutes, delves into a theme of intense love, with lyrics that are perceived as laden with feeling and an emotional exposure that borders on the sexual. Although it was not released as a single, it has achieved a special place among the band's followers, demonstrating that their lyrical depth and particular atmosphere connect in a lasting way.

The recording of Corazones marked a turning point for Los Prisioneros, as it was the first project they undertook outside of Chile. The album was conceived in Los Angeles, in studios such as Entourage Studios and Mad Dog Studios, under the production of Gustavo Santaolalla and the co-production of Aníbal Kerpel. This record is distinguished by a shift towards synth-pop and dance-pop, incorporating elements of house and electro-disco, a notable change from the guitar-driven rock and punk-tinged new wave that characterized their beginnings. Jorge González, as the main songwriter, took on greater creative control during this period. The band performed "Amiga mía" between 1990 and 1991, and then again between 2003 and 2006. For his part, Jorge González included it in solo concerts over several years, from 1998 to 2017. In 2012, Javiera Mena recorded a version for the soundtrack of the film Joven y alocada.
