Bollicine

When Vasco Rossi released Bollicine in April 1983, he presented a work that would become one of the most beloved by both the public and critics. The magazine Rolling Stone Italia, in 2012, placed it at the top of its list of the 100 best Italian albums. This album captures a sound that resonates with a particular energy, and within it is Vita spericolata, a song that became an anthem for a generation. The story behind Vita spericolata is quite unique: the music was conceived by Tullio Ferro, who also wrote a first draft of the lyrics in English during the summer of 1982, thinking of a concert in Cagliari that was ultimately canceled due to bad weather. It was at that moment, confined to his camper, that Vasco Rossi shaped the lyrics in Italian. The reference to "Roxy Bar" in the song has led to many identifications, including with the Roxy Bar in Bologna, where fans still leave their signatures. However, Vasco was inspired by the "Roxy Bar" that Leo Chiosso imagined in 1959 for the song "Che notte" by Fred Buscaglione. Later, in the nineties, Red Ronnie would use that same name for his television show.

About the album

Bollicine, according to DoReSol

In Una canzone per te, the electric guitar was played by Dodi Battaglia, a member of Pooh, although in the credits it appears with a typo as Dodi "Battagia". Years later, Rossi would collaborate with Battaglia again, writing the lyrics for Più in alto che c'è, a track from Dodi's solo debut album, and even joining the backing vocals in the final part of that song. The album Bollicine, in addition to its original release, had a special "Picture" edition in 1983. It has undergone remastering processes in 2017 and again in 2023, celebrating its fortieth anniversary. The overall production of the album, unless otherwise specified, bears Vasco Rossi's signature for both lyrics and music, consolidating his artistic vision in these eight compositions.
