The story behind
The song *Vita spericolata* was born from a musical idea that Tullio Ferro had been developing since the summer of 1982. Originally, the music had lyrics in English and was conceived as a love song dedicated to someone named Licia. However, Vasco Rossi decided to give it a twist, connecting it with the theme of freedom and nonconformity that he had already explored in other songs of his. The result was a piece that, after a year of development, was presented at the 1983 edition of the Sanremo Music Festival. Despite not achieving a prominent position at the festival, the song proved to be a lasting success and became a turning point in Rossi's career. It has been described as an anthem to extreme individualism, exploring transgression, boredom, melancholy, and the desire to live without restrictions.
The track was included on the album Bollicine, released in April 1983 by Carosello Records. This album is considered one of Vasco Rossi's most valued works, even being chosen by Rolling Stone Italia as the best Italian album in 2012. The music for *Vita spericolata* was composed by Tullio Ferro, while the lyrics are by Vasco Rossi. The song was released as a single on January 24, 1983, with Mi piaci perché as the B-side. Over time, it has been covered by artists such as Francesco De Gregori and Massimo Ranieri. An English version, titled My Life is Mine, with lyrics by Jean Rich, was recorded by Thelma Houston and released in 1994. Even Gino Paoli included its chorus in his hit Quattro amici.
