The story behind

Paolo Conte recorded Pretend Pretend Pretend in 1981, within the album Paris milonga. The song was released in May of that year, along with two others, on a disc that marked a turning point in his sound. After a period without collaborating with Lilli Greco, they reunited in the studio of Format, in Turin. There they also recorded Via con me, while the rest of the album was made in Rome. The style gradually moved closer to jazz and swing, blending that language with influences from South American music. The song lasts just over three minutes, and on Last.fm it has more than seven thousand plays.
