More about Pablo Alborán
Biography
Behind that first self-titled album, recorded in 2011, lies a detail often overlooked: producer Manuel Illán was pivotal. He opened doors to major collaborations, such as those with Estrella Morente and Diana Navarro, two voices that shaped his debut. Even Sergio Dalma took a chance on him, bringing his name to Warner Music Group so he could record his first album. But the most surprising fact is his connection with Carminho: from a cover he did of her on a demo tape, «Perdóname» was born—a duet that also climbed to the top of the charts in Spain and Portugal.
Later, in 2012, he released En acústico, a live-recorded album that proved his music didn’t need layers of production to sound complete. The album debuted at number one in Spain and stayed weeks at the top in Portugal. That same year, he also became the best-selling artist in the latter country, something few had achieved before. But not all was commercial success: in 2016, he won a Goya for «Palmeras en la nieve», the song he composed for the soundtrack of the film of the same name alongside Lucas Vidal. Today, with six albums to his name, he continues to explore sounds without losing the essence that made him stand out from the start.
