Reik

Reik started in Mexicali, Baja California, in 2003. There they met three guys: Jesús Navarro, who sang and played the piano, Julio Ramírez, who played guitar and bass, and Bibi Marín, who took care of guitar and drums. At first, the band focused on romantic ballads, but in 2018 they started getting into reguetón and Latin pop. With that, they won a Latin Billboard Music Award, four MTV Latinoamérica awards and a Latin Grammy.

Their first album, also called Reik, came out in 2005. It included songs like «Yo quisiera», «Noviembre sin ti» and «Qué vida la mía». The second album, Secuencia, came in 2006, with «Invierno» as the main track. In 2008 they released Un día más, which gave them a Latin Grammy. Later came Peligro and Des/Amor, where they started using more electronic sounds.

More about Reik

Biography

In 2016, they felt frustrated with Latin pop. They decided to change direction and started working with reguetón artists. They did collaborations with Nicky Jam, Ozuna, Wisin and Maluma. Songs like «Ya me enteré» and «Amigos con derechos» became famous. They also did a song with Super Junior, «One More Time (Otra vez)».

At first, the group was just Jesús and Julio. In 2004 Bibi Marín joined. Although they already had material, they didn't start recording until August 2005. With the support of Abelardo Vázquez, who also produced their first album, Reik was released in 2005. The album had eleven songs, all with a pop and ballad touch. The first single was «Yo quisiera», followed by «Que vida la mía». Then came «Noviembre sin ti», «Niña» and «Vuelve».
