Camouflage

Camouflage started as a project of three friends who used to meet up to play at a university. They were called "Licenced Technology" at first, but soon decided to change the name. They liked a song by Yellow Magic Orchestra that also was called Camouflage, so they kept that name. Their first show was in 1984, and the following year they recorded two demo tapes.

In 1986 they won a radio contest and released a single called "The Great Commandment". Their first album, "Voices & Images", came out in 1988. It was released in the United States with an American record label. That same year, "The Great Commandment" reached number one in the dance charts three times.

Biography

In 1989 they released "Methods of Silence", and the single "Love is a Shield" stayed in the top nine in Germany for more than six months. The album was sold in more than twenty countries. In 1990, Oliver Kreyssig left for personal reasons.

They reunited in 1991 and recorded "Meanwhile" with a producer who had also worked with David Bowie. Surprisingly, the album included real instruments and percussion. Then came "Bodega Bohemia" and "Spice Crackers". Oliver officially reunited in 1999.

In 2001 they re-released "The Great Commandment" with a more modern version. The production was by a trio from London, and the drums were played by a musician who also played with Depeche Mode. That year they also performed at the Leipzig festival. In 2003 they released "Sensor" and started a tour across Europe.

A few years ago they released "Relocated", an album that shows an evolution towards more current sounds. It uses electronic bases, synthesizers and guitars. From there came songs like "Motif Sky" and "Bitter Taste".
