Methods of Silence

Camouflage released this album in June 1989, just as synth-pop was starting to lose its strength. The band went into a new studio near their city, and then worked in a place in Brussels. There, producer Dan Lacksman used both old and new technology to make the album. They were given more freedom because they had already gained some fame before.

About the album

Methods of Silence, according to DoReSol

The track "Love Is a Shield" was the first single. It reached number 9 in the single charts in Germany, and became one of the most recognized songs by the band. The album itself reached 13 on the German album charts. The critics saw it as precise, with song structures that were easy to understand.

The music has that synth touch that defines them, but it's also clear they want to do more than just sound. The songs range from direct to the most introspective, as if they were searching for a place between what was and what could be.
