The story behind
The song *Les Rues* by Camouflage lasts 3 minutes and 31 seconds, a detail that adds to the atmosphere they build. Recorded at the Synsound studio in Brussels in early 1989, this piece is part of *Methods of Silence*, the second studio album by this German synth-pop trio. Producer Dan Lacksman, known for his work with Telex, was key to the album's sound, combining both current and older technological equipment. The band, which already had a previous hit, had more room to explore their creativity on this project.
The album *Methods of Silence* reached number 13 on the German charts. From this work, the single *Love Is a Shield* was released, which had an excellent reception, reaching ninth place on the German singles charts, making it Camouflage's most successful song. Furthermore, this track managed to place 20th on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart in the United States. The recording took place in a new studio that the band set up, called "Boys Factory 2", near their hometown, before moving to Brussels for the final production.
