Odessey and Oracle

The Zombies released Odessey and Oracle in 1968, an album recorded in 1967, when they were already with CBS. The sound was different from what they had done before. Before, their first LP was more like a compilation of songs than a real album. But Odessey and Oracle was all Rod Argent and Chris White, the two who wrote the group's songs.

About the album

Odessey and Oracle, according to DoReSol

They started recording in June 1967, in famous studios. Some songs were made in EMI studios, the same where the Beatles finished Sgt. Pepper and where Pink Floyd began. By the end of the year, they had the album ready, but they split up because they didn't have much money.

The album was released in the UK in April 1968, and in the US a month later. The song Time of the Season became an unexpected hit in 1969. The US label wanted the album in stereo, but the original version was in mono. Producer Al Kooper helped make a remix for the US, but not everything could be done. The song This Will Be Our Year was not released in stereo because there was no horn on the original tape.
