About the album
Doga, according to DoReSol
The gestation of Doga spanned from 2020 to 2025, encompassing various recording spaces. Part of the process took place in Molina's home studio in General Pacheco, Buenos Aires, and at the Sonorámica residential studio in Córdoba. There were also sessions in Montreal, at the Hotel2Tango studio, where she collaborated with Canadian musicians such as Leslie Feist, Andrew Barr, and Howard Bilerman. It was at this stage that Emilio Haro joined as producer. With much of the material already developed, Haro helped Molina select and shape the extensive hours of recordings. His contribution included encouraging Molina to reinterpret the songs multiple times and to focus on the lyrics, a different method from what she used to employ.
Doga has been met with critical acclaim, with reviewers highlighting its experimental and challenging sound, considering it an evolution of Molina's musical identity. It has been noted that the album delves into Molina's unique way of fusing electronic elements, such as synthesizers and programming, with organic textures of guitar, vocals, bass, and drums. The compositions on Doga, such as Desinhumano or Caravanas, evoke unique sonic universes, with a distorted vision that makes them difficult to categorize. The album is characterized by the use of vintage analog synthesizers, which give it a distinctive timbre, and by exploring sounds that refer to the "paranatural," capturing synthetic textures that imitate nature's noises.
