Bloco Do Eu Sozinho

The second studio album by Los Hermanos, titled Bloco Do Eu Sozinho, was released in 2001. Following the success of their debut record, the band felt pressure from their label, Abril Music, to replicate that commercial impact. To find a workspace free from interference, they decided to record this album in the mountains of Rio De Janeiro. During this process, bassist Patrick Laplan left the group, and Alexandre Kassin, who was already collaborating with the band as a producer, took over the bass to complete the recording.

About the album

Bloco Do Eu Sozinho, according to DoReSol

Upon presenting the material to Abril Music, the label initially rejected it, citing a lack of catchy songs and what they considered amateur production. As a result, a remix was agreed upon with producer Marcelo Sussekind. Fortunately, Sussekind valued the essence of the original work, resulting in a final version very similar to the band's initial proposal, which was ultimately accepted. Although the sales of Bloco Do Eu Sozinho did not meet the label's expectations, the album was recognized with a nomination for the 2002 Latin Grammy Awards in the "Best Brazilian Rock Album" category. The album's sound falls within the Indie rock and MPB genres, with Chico Neves as producer.

Over time, Bloco Do Eu Sozinho has earned a special place. In 2007, Rolling Stone Brasil magazine included it on its list of the best Brazilian albums of all time, ranking it at number 42. Songs like Todo Carnaval Tem Seu Fim, A Flor, and Retrato Pra Iaiá are examples of the sound that defined this work, an album that, while not seeking immediate mass success, established itself as an important piece in the discography of Los Hermanos.
