Bee Gees

Bee Gees no fue solo un trío de hermanos cantando al unísono, sino un laboratorio de armonías donde cada voz tenía un rol preciso. En sus primeros años, Robin llevaba la melodía con un vibrato cristalino que se clavaba en los temas, mientras que Barry exploraba el falsete soul años antes de que el R&B se masificara. Esa dualidad —voz lírica por un lado, aguda por el otro— terminó definiendo su identidad. Cuando en los setenta Barry afinó su falsete hasta convertirlo en un sello, el mundo los reconoció al instante: no eran tres hermanos, sino una sola textura sonora que flotaba entre el pop y el baile.

El giro llegó cuando Saturday Night Fever los catapultó más allá de las listas. El disco no solo vendió millones; su banda sonora se coló en cada rincón donde la gente quería moverse. Los cinco Grammy que ganaron por ese álbum no fueron un premio cualquiera: incluyeron el de Álbum del Año, algo que rara vez ocurre con bandas de dance. Lo curioso es que ese éxito los obligó a replantearse. Biografía

Detrás de esos hits había años de trabajo silencioso. En Australia, antes de ser famosos, grabaron Spicks and Specks (1966), un disco que los dejó en el radar local pero sin explosión. Cuando volvieron a Inglaterra en 1967 con Bee Gees' 1st, el productor Robert Stigwood los empujó a pulir ese sonido que ya olía a algo grande. Más tarde, en Main Course (1975), incorporaron sintetizadores y ritmos funk antes de que el disco fuera un género establecido. Incluso en sus etapas menos comerciales, como Still Waters (1997), demostraron que su fórmula no era moda: era arquitectura vocal. La muerte de Maurice en 2003 los separó temporalmente, pero el nombre siguió vivo hasta que el tiempo se llevó también a Robin en 2012. Hoy, con solo Barry y algunos exmiembros en activo, su legado sigue vivo en cada acorde que alguien tararea sin saber que, alguna vez, tres hermanos lo cantaron por primera vez.
