More about Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
Biography
Despite his success, Vaughan faced significant personal struggles, including issues with alcohol and drugs. However, he managed to recover and resumed touring with Double Trouble in 1986. His fourth album, In Step, released in 1989, included the hit single "Crossfire" and solidified his status as one of the most prominent blues artists of his time. Vaughan performed at iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden and the Beale Street Music Festival, leaving an indelible mark on music.
Tragically, on August 27, 1990, Vaughan lost his life in a helicopter accident following a concert at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre. Despite his short career, his legacy endures through his recordings and the influence he has had on generations of musicians. His music has sold over 15 million albums in the United States, and his style continues to be studied and admired by guitarists worldwide.
