The story behind
Testify, according to DoReSol
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble recorded Testify in three days at Jackson Browne's studio in 1982. The song lasts 3:22 and appeared on the album Texas Flood, which in 1983 became the most-listened-to blues record in nearly twenty years. In North America, the album reached position 64 on the Billboard 200 and 38 on the Pop Albums chart, while the single Pride and Joy peaked at 20 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Testify was nominated for a Grammy in 1983 in the category of "Best Blues Recording".The recording was a quick process but yielded a polished sound: mixing was handled by Lincoln Clapp, Harry Spiridakis, and Don Wershba, and among the producers were Double Trouble, John Hammond, Mikie Harris, Richard Mullen, and Stevie Ray Vaughan himself.
The result was a track that, though brief, left its mark on the charts and on the electric blues scene of the time.
