No Doubt

From Anaheim, California, in 1986, a band emerged that knew how to blend the energy of ska with catchy melodies, creating a distinctive sound. Initially, the lineup included Gwen Stefani on backing vocals and her brother Eric Stefani on keyboards, along with other musicians. After the departure of John Spence, Gwen took on the role of lead vocalist, and the band added Tom Dumont on guitar and Adrian Young on drums. In their early days, they shared the stage with other ska bands and moved within the local scene until, in 1991, they caught the attention of Interscope Records.

Their first album, released in 1992, did not generate much impact. However, their next work, *The Beacon Street Collection*, released in 1995, showcased a rawer, punkier sound, surpassing 100,000 copies sold. It was with *Tragic Kingdom*, also from 1995, that they achieved much greater recognition, coinciding with the resurgence of third-wave ska. From this album came *Don't Speak*, which set a record by remaining 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart. Another standout track from that record was *Just a Girl*.

More about No Doubt

Biography

By the year 2000, they released *Return of Saturn*, an album with a more melodic and dramatic approach, which, while not matching the commercial success of its predecessor, was praised by critics and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. Shortly after, in 2001, *Rock Steady* arrived, largely recorded in Jamaica, where they explored reggae and dancehall influences. This album brought them two Grammy Awards for the singles *Hey Baby* and *Underneath It All*, in addition to a nomination for *Hella Good*.

After a tour in 2004, the band members pursued personal projects. Gwen Stefani released her successful solo albums *Love. Angel. Music. Baby.* (2004) and *The Sweet Escape* (2006), while Tom Dumont formed his own musical project. The band resumed work in 2008, culminating in their sixth album, *Push and Shove*, released in 2012. In 2026, a reunion was announced for a series of concerts in Las Vegas.
