blink‐182

When you listen to blink-182, you're likely to think of an energy that mixes punk speed with catchy melodies, a style heavily associated with pop-punk. Their lyrics often deal with relationships, growing up, and the experiences of adolescence. The band's sound was shaped in the Southern California skate punk scene, where they gained attention for their energetic shows and laid-back attitude.

The band kicked off with the album Cheshire Cat in 1995, followed by Dude Ranch in 1997, both released on an independent label. These early works helped them build a fanbase in their region and gain some attention at a time when punk rock was making a strong comeback on the mainstream circuit. After extensive touring, including appearances at the Warped Tour, they signed with a larger record company. It was with their next two albums, Enema of the State (1999) and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001), that they achieved significant commercial success. Tracks like All the Small Things, Dammit, and What's My Age Again? received heavy airplay on the radio and music television.

More about blink‐182

Biography

Over time, blink-182 explored other sounds, as can be heard on their 2003 self-titled album, Neighborhoods (2011), and the EP Dogs Eating Dogs (2012). Throughout their history, Mark Hoppus has been the sole constant member. Tom DeLonge left the group twice but returned in 2022. Original drummer Scott Raynor was on the early recordings until 1998, when Travis Barker took his place. Between 2015 and 2022, Matt Skiba was part of the band, contributing to the albums California (2016) and Nine (2019). Following DeLonge's return, they released their ninth studio album, One More Time..., in October 2023. The band formed in August 1992, when DeLonge met Raynor, who introduced him to Hoppus. They recorded demos like Flyswatter (1993) and Buddha (1994) before settling on the name Blink-182. In 1998, Raynor was replaced by Barker. The 1999 release of Enema of the State was a commercial turning point, with millions in sales and several well-known singles. In 2001, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket was their first album to reach number one in the United States. In 2003, they released a self-titled album that showcased a broader range of influences.
