The story behind
The Party Song, according to DoReSol
In *The Party Song*, blink-182 captures the atmosphere of a gathering that falls apart. The lyrics describe Mark's experience at a party that goes from bad to worse, until a girl he's interested in appears. However, it soon becomes clear that her appearance is not what it seems. The song stands out for its fast pace, one of the fastest in the band, to the point that it took them years to perform it live, finally achieving it in 2011.
This track, lasting 2:19, was arranged by blink-182 themselves. The recording involved Darrell Harvey, John Nelson, and Robert Read as engineers, while production and mixing were handled by Jerry Finn. Tom, in a note for a tour program near the release of Enema, described the song as a portrayal of those parties where people get drunk and act foolishly, and girls try to grab all the attention, overdoing it and behaving as if they had no sense. He added that we've all been in that situation, attending parties where several guys hover around a few girls who don't get enough attention.
