Salsa Big Band

When Rubén Blades decided to record again with Roberto Delgado & Orquesta, the result was Salsa Big Band, an album released in 2017. This project emerged shortly after Son de Panamá, also made with the same group. For Salsa Big Band, eleven tracks were gathered, of which nine were new compositions by Blades, and two were reinterpretations of pieces by Luis Demetrio and René Touzet. The production was handled by Roberto Delgado. The main influence for this work came from Blades' admiration for figures in Puerto Rican music such as Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez, and Willie Rosario, as well as the characteristic sound of big bands from the fifties.
