In *El pescador*, Rubén Blades delves into a sonic universe that evokes the nostalgia of the great orchestras of the 1950s, a sound he deeply admires. The piece, lasting 5 minutes and 47 seconds, is part of the album *Salsa Big Band*, a project born from the creative connection between Blades and Roberto Delgado & Orquesta. This record, released in 2017, was developed following the success of *Son de Panamá* in 2015, solidifying the artistic relationship between both. The idea was to explore a repertoire that paid homage to iconic figures such as Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez, and Willie Rosario, capturing the essence of the great bands of yesteryear.

The recording process for *Salsa Big Band* included eleven tracks, nine of which were original compositions by Rubén Blades and two, versions of works by Luis Demetrio and René Touzet. Roberto Delgado took on the production, guiding the sound toward the style that so inspired Blades. The choice of this musical path was not coincidental; it represented a deep admiration for tradition and a desire to reinterpret it with a contemporary perspective, preserving the richness of orchestral arrangements and the interpretive strength that characterize these legends of music.
