The story behind
When Rubén Blades set out to record Salsa Big Band with Roberto Delgado & Orquesta, he sought to revive the sound of the great bands of the 1950s, drawing inspiration from figures like Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez, and Willie Rosario. This project, released in 2017, included eleven tracks, of which nine were new compositions for Blades, and two were re-recordings of pieces by Luis Demetrio and René Touzet. The album's production was handled by Roberto Delgado, who had previously collaborated with Blades on Son de Panamá in 2015.
In this context, the song Arayué, with a duration of 4:48, adds to the proposal of Salsa Big Band, exploring that fusion of influences that refer to past eras of big band music, but with the characteristic imprint of Rubén Blades. The album, released under Rubén Blades Productions, was met with positive comments from specialized critics.
