The story behind
When Rubén Blades set out to record Salsa Big Band with Roberto Delgado & Orquesta, his intention was to revisit the sound of the big bands of the 1950s, drawing inspiration from figures like Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez, and Willie Rosario. This album, released in 2017, included eleven tracks, of which nine were new compositions and two were reinterpretations of pieces by Luis Demetrio and René Touzet. The production was handled by Roberto Delgado, who had previously collaborated with Blades on Son de Panamá in 2015.
The track El pasado no perdona, with a duration of 6 minutes and 22 seconds, is part of this project that sought to evoke a golden era of music, fusing Blades' experience with the powerful sound and characteristic arrangements of a large-format salsa orchestra.
