The story behind

Os Paralamas do Sucesso recorded Meu erro in 1984, at EMI Odeon studios in Rio de Janeiro. It became a hit among Brazilian youth. The song is part of the album O Passo do Lui, which marked the band's growth in the country. The album title is a tribute to Lui, a friend of the musicians who appears on the cover. The song was written by Herbert Vianna, who also sang in the band. Some interpret Meu erro as a lament for the end of a relationship, while others see it as a critique of society's lack of perspective after the military dictatorship. The acoustic version of the song was performed by Zizi Possi in 1999 and was nominated for a Latin Grammy.
