In assenza di te

The song In assenza di te, which translates to "In your absence," was born in 1998, a time when Laura Pausini was already consolidating her voice and style. The musical piece was conceived by Laura Pausini along with Antonio Galbiati and Cheope, who contributed the melodies and lyrics that bring this ballad to life. It was released as a single in January 1999, as part of her fourth Italian studio album, La mia risposta. The production of this work was handled by Laura Pausini, along with Alfredo Cerruti and Dado Parisini, who worked to give it that characteristic sound that has kept it relevant.

The Spanish version, En ausencia de ti, along with the original Italian one, were later included in the greatest hits compilation album E ritorno da te. Before its official release as a single, the song had already gained popularity in Brazil, being part of the soundtrack of the telenovela Pecado Capital. This led to a special edition of the single being released exclusively for that market. The song also led to adaptations in other languages, such as a Hebrew version titled Ha-ezev Betochi, performed by Sarit Hadad, and a Malay version called Aku Masih Setia, by Dia Fadila. In 2021, Janella Salvador recorded the English version, It's Not Goodbye, for her album Melody of Love with Janella.
