The story behind

El pez, according to DoReSol

The song El pez, with its duration of 3 minutes and 15 seconds, is one of the pieces that make up the first studio album by Aterciopelados, titled Con el corazón en la mano. This record work, released in 1993, marked the beginning of the Colombian band on the music scene. The recording and mixing of the album took place at Studio Master Producciones, located in Bogotá, during the spring of that same year. The general production was under the responsibility of Juan Antonio Castillo, while the mixing work fell to Richard Blair.

The album Con el corazón en la mano not only signified the debut of Aterciopelados, but also laid the groundwork for the band to consolidate itself as one of the most recognized rock groups in Latin America. On this debut album, the punk roots that characterized many of their compositions can be appreciated, and from it emerged some of the first songs that resonated in the local scene, such as Mujer gala, La cuchilla, and Sortilegio. This first record effort achieved sales close to 50,000 copies, a considerable figure for a Colombian artist at that time.
