The story behind
In Ella, the Colombian punk of Aterciopelados condenses into a minute and a half of pure energy. The song kicks off with a rhythm that seems to breathe in sync with Bogotá, where the urban and the rebellious blend without filters. It's not just the speed that captivates: that voice alternating between a whisper and a shout, that bass that never lets go, turn the song into a heartbeat that won't be forgotten. The track lasts less than three minutes, but in that time, all the desire to say something without beating around the bush fits in.
The album Con el corazón en la mano was recorded at Studio Master Producciones studios during the spring of 1993, with Juan Antonio Castillo at the helm of production and Richard Blair handling the mixes. At the time, rock in Latin America was still finding its place, and this Colombian band arrived to stay. Ella was no exception: with sales exceeding fifty thousand copies in Colombia, it became one of the group's first hits, a sound that resonated far beyond local stages.
