Valió la pena

When Marc Anthony set out to give his songs new life, he brought in an old acquaintance to the production booth. Producer Sergio George, with whom he had already worked in 1995 on the album Todo A Su Tiempo, rejoined him for this project. The result was Valió la Pena, an album that saw the light of day in 2004 and was recorded in several renowned studios in Los Angeles, such as Record One and Ocean Way, and at Sound on Sound Studios in New York. This record dives headfirst into the tropical salsa genre, under the labels Sony BMG Norte and Columbia Records.

About the album

Valió la pena, according to DoReSol

Of the eight songs that make up Valió la Pena, seven are reinterpretations in a salsa style of tracks that had already appeared in his previous work, Amar Sin Mentiras. Additionally, it includes a gem from the Latin American repertoire: the classic "Lamento Borincano" by Rafael Hernández. The impact was immediate, managing to climb to the top of the Top Latin Albums chart, just as had happened with his previous album. Recognition also came in the form of awards, earning the award for Best Salsa Album at the 2005 Latin Grammy Awards and the title of Tropical Album of the Year at that same year's Premios Lo Nuestro.
