The story behind

Escapémonos, according to DoReSol

The song Escapémonos by Marc Anthony invites us on a sonic journey that, although brief in duration (5:32), condenses a story of collaboration and reinvention. This track is from the album Valió la Pena, a work where Anthony reconnected with producer Sergio George, with whom he had not worked since 1995, the year they released the album Todo A Su Tiempo together.

The interesting thing about Valió la Pena is that it not only presents new material but also reinterprets seven songs from the previous album, Amar Sin Mentiras, giving them a salsa twist. Added to this selection is a classic from the Latin American repertoire, Lamento Borincano, a piece that evokes deep roots. This revitalizing approach paid off, as like its predecessor, Valió la Pena reached the top spot on the Top Latin Albums charts. Recognition also came at important ceremonies: in 2005, the album was honored as Best Salsa Album at the Latin Grammy Awards and as Tropical Album of the Year at Premio Lo Nuestro.

Marc Anthony, whose real name is Marco Antonio Muñiz Ruiz Rivera, born in 1968 in New York, has navigated diverse genres throughout his career, from salsa and bolero to ballad and pop. His recording beginnings were in hip hop, but he soon turned to salsa, achieving sustained success. His talent led him to cross borders, earning gold records in Spain and participating in major international projects, such as the play The Capeman, where Paul Simon chose him for a leading role.
