3.0

Marc Anthony returned to his roots in 2013 with 3.0, his first original salsa album in over a decade. Recorded between 2011 and 2013 under the production of Sergio George —who had already shaped his sound in other works—, the album hit stores on July 23 of that year with a style that blends tropical salsa and bolero, yet without losing the danceable essence that has always defined him. The total runtime, just over 41 minutes, did not prevent it from sounding fresh, with arrangements that range from classic to modern without forcing the change. The label Sony Music Latin alongside Columbia backed it, but the real driving force was the chemistry between Anthony and George, which here achieved a balance between rhythmic power and catchy melodies.

About the album

3.0, according to DoReSol

The album kicked off strong with Vivir Mi Vida, a Spanish version of Khaled's hit C'est la vie, released as the lead single on April 15, 2013. The song, with its upbeat rhythm and optimistic lyrics, became the unexpected summer anthem: people hummed it at parties, danced to it in the streets, and even the choreography went viral. It was followed by Cambio de Piel as the second single on October 8, with a more introspective yet equally contagious message. Between the two, the album earned nominations at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2014, where it won Best Salsa Album and competed for Album of the Year. Sales were no less impressive: it debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 with 47,000 copies in its first week, and months later, the RIAA certified it with 13 Latin platinum discs.
