Night Visions

When Imagine Dragons set out to record Night Visions, they already had a path behind them. Singer Dan Reynolds had formed the band in 2008, and gradually Wayne Sermon on guitar, Ben McKee on bass, and Daniel Platzman on drums joined, replacing previous members. They moved to Las Vegas and began playing in local competitions. Before this album, they had already released several EPs, such as Imagine Dragons in 2009, Hell and Silence in 2010, and It's Time in 2011. The EP Continued Silence, released in February 2012, was an important preview, and from it came the first single, "It's Time," which reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The sound of Night Visions, recorded between late 2009 and mid-2012 in studios in Nevada and California, fuses elements of pop, folk, and hip hop.

About the album

Night Visions, according to DoReSol

The album, officially released on September 4, 2012, quickly became a benchmark for the band. The track "Radioactive," for example, had a major impact, reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs charts. The album's production was handled by the band themselves along with producers like Alex da Kid and Brandon Darner. Night Visions debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, selling over 83,000 copies in its first week. It remained in the Billboard 200's top 10 throughout 2012, 2013, and 2014, and was the fourth best-selling album in the United States in 2013. Furthermore, it received a Juno Award nomination and won the Billboard Music Award for Top Rock Album.

A special edition of Night Visions was released in September 2022 to celebrate its tenth anniversary, including unreleased demos like "Love of Mine" and "Bubble." The album, with a total runtime of just over 43 minutes, is Imagine Dragons' first studio work and laid the foundation for their distinctive sound.
