Longe Demais Das Capitais

Engenheiros do Hawaii's first step into the recording world came in 1986 with the release of Longe Demais Das Capitais. This work, recorded in São Paulo, marked the beginning of their journey in the rock genre, with influences that hinted at post-punk. The production was handled by Reinaldo B. Brito, and the album was released under the BMG/RCA label. The band, originally from Rio Grande do Sul, had already shown signs of their potential by being included in the compilation Rock Grande do Sul with tracks like Sopa de Letrinhas and Segurança.

About the album

Longe Demais Das Capitais, according to DoReSol

From this debut album, several songs resonated strongly. Toda Forma de Poder was integrated into the soundtrack of the telenovela Hipertensão by Rede Globo, while Segurança became part of the plot of Corpo Santo on Rede Manchete. Another standout track was Sopa de Letrinhas, a collaboration between Humberto Gessinger and Marcelo Pitz. Gessinger's lyrics, in particular, offered a critical look at insecurity, lack of future, and existential reflections, often with a political undertone.

This first LP laid the foundation for the sonic and lyrical identity of Engenheiros do Hawaii. The way they approached themes such as uncertainty and the search for meaning, wrapped in the energy of rock, demonstrated from the outset a proposal that sought to connect with the concerns of their audience.
