The story behind
Toda Forma de Poder, according to DoReSol
Engenheiros do Hawaii recorded Toda Forma de Poder in a four-week sprint at RCA studios in São Paulo, between May and June 1986. The result was an album that, in just 3:15, condensed a fresh sound for the time: a mix of ska and reggae that stood out from everything that followed in the band. The track not only became the only single from the album Longe Demais Das Capitais, but also ended up in two soap opera soundtracks and had its own music video. The original lineup — with Humberto Gessinger on bass, Carlos Stein and Augusto Licks on guitars, and Carlos Maltz on drums — lasted only until 1987, when Marcelo Pitz left the group. But in those weeks of recording, they captured something that would define them: a style that, though fleeting on that album, left a mark.
