The story behind
Fé Nenhuma, according to DoReSol
Fé Nenhuma is one of those songs that grabs you from the first chord and doesn't let go. The opening riff, short and catchy, repeats with a rhythm that seems simple but has a bounce that forces your fingers to move along with your head. It's not an epic track nor one with long solos, but something direct, with an energy that comes and goes like a wave. What's most curious is how that ska/reggae vibe that dominates the album Longe Demais Das Capitais blends with lyrics that seek neither comfort nor answers, but instead stand firmly in the middle of confusion with irony.
They recorded it in just four weeks at RCA studios in São Paulo, between May and June 1986, and it aired in October of the same year. The band still wasn't sure what path they would take after this album, but it was already clear that Humberto Gessinger's bass and Augusto Licks' arrangements —who would join the following year— hinted at what was to come. The track lasts less than three minutes, but within that time, a lot of nuances fit: Carlos Maltz's drums mark the beat with precision, while Carlos Stein's and Gessinger's guitars intertwine without harshness. The single Toda Forma de Poder resonated the most on the radio, but Fé Nenhuma is one of those pieces that stays in your memory without making a sound.
